Water & Flood Remediation

Water & Flood Remediation

Whether it’s your home or your business that’s being threatened by leaking water or flood, here’s how Property Damage Specialists will take care of you and make things better than they were before.

First, our water & flood remediation experts remove all the water from your property. Doing this right starts even before we bring in pumps and water extraction equipment. After all, drying the visible surfaces is easy — but ensuring the structure itself isn’t harboring water that will cause long-term damage is critical.

We bring in tools and knowledge to spot water and moisture wherever they may be hiding, because we know the most important damp spots may be the ones you’d never see. Our toolkit includes moisture detectors, meters, and hygrometers that will measure how far moisture and water has saturated into the structure. In some cases, we may bring in an infrared camera to visually see where water is hiding, even if the naked eye sees nothing out of the ordinary.

Once we know exactly what needs to be done, our experts bring in the necessary equipment. We have gas powered and submersible pumps that can continuously pump out high level water, and do it fast. After all, every additional hour of standing water can mean additional damage. Our portable water extraction units, like specialized vacuums designed specifically for water damage restoration work, and our truck mounted water extractors remove the rest of the water.

With most of the water gone, we sanitize. The most serious danger from water damage and flooding is not water itself. It’s what happens while the water is there.

Most people don’t know this, but when you soak objects in water, microorganisms like bacteria, mildew, and fungus start growing. These microorganisms may present a deadly health hazard, as well as causing both cosmetic and structural damage.

Having removed the water we therefore examine the surfaces to be treated and apply sanitizers, anti-microbial treatments, and germicides. Disinfecting the structure this way stops fungus, bacteria, mildew, and mold from growing — which protects both your health and your building. If necessary we have deodorizers to reduce the odors resulting from too much moisture, also.

Our high-tech drying equipment does the rest. Properly drying out the structure means we minimize swelling or warping in wood floors, furniture, and walls. Since humidity is often a problem in water damage situations, we have high capacity industrial dehumidifiers to reduce and eliminate secondary water damage. Where moisture remains, we evaporate it in place using high speed industrial air movers to create a constant stream of air over waterlogged carpets, walls, furniture, and pads.

Properly dehumidifying your structure like this doesn’t just get rid of water. It means we can save you money in replacement and restoration costs, and reduce the amount of time it takes to get back to normal. We can remove moisture from plaster, drywall, interior paint, carpets, cement floors, basements, and insulation. We know where to put the dehumidifiers and air movers and which kinds to use in order to get you the best results. That way you get the fastest possible drying, with the best possible results.

Depending on the situation, we can also apply state of the art equipment and special training. This includes performing new construction. Property Damage Specialists is a licensed general contractor, so we can rebuild if needed to make sure there’s no sign the water was ever there.

What happens when you call Property Damage Specialists about your water damage or flooding?

Within an hour of getting the call, even if it’s 3AM, we will be out at your property for an inspection. Particularly with water & flood damage, acting fast is critical.

If need be, we’ll carefully box and store your personal belongings and business property while we work on the affected area. We’ll demolish any parts of the structure that are unsalvageable and rebuild them better than new.
